As our Mapping Marton Wood project begins to wind down, we're excited to share the project film with you.
Created by Katie Greenhalf at This Film the film is shot at Marton Wood. It explores many of the project's themes with a variety of artists, ecologists, and participants from the project.
Marton Wood is a 6.6-hectare woodland near the village of Marton cum Grafton in North Yorkshire. In 2022, Chrysalis Arts leased the wood for ten years.
Mapping Marton Wood is an 18 month project developed as part of this initiative which explores the relationships people and wildlife have with this ‘unremarkable’ but extraordinary place. The project weaves artists, ecologists, and the public together, collaborating, sharing and learning from one another. Four commissioned artists have created work in response to the wood, its ecology and surroundings, and the community of Marton cum Grafton.
