Contemporary Artists in Rural Contexts II

This event focused upon artist-led approaches to working in a rural context, perceptions and myth-making about the term “rural” and explored how artists are engaging with some of the challenges and issues facing rural communities from a national and international perspective.

Speakers included Dr Rosemary Shirley, Lecturer in Art History at MMU and author of ‘Creating the Countryside’, Gemma Burditt, animator and film-maker, Jo Hodges and Robbie Coleman, public artists based in Scotland, Walking Artist Alison Lloyd and Sara Vogel-Rodin, Culture and Leisure Manager for the rural district Bengstfors in West Sweden.
